• Presentation of the project: The New National Museum of World Writing offers a variety of spatial experiences; the project seeks to anticipate the museums need for flexibility and efficiency, combined with the unexpressed hope of producing another symbolic building in Songdo. The concept of the New National Museum of World Writing implies the abstraction of writing as an essential ingredient. The shape derives from the contextual movement of the border between the high-density city and the natural environment of the park.
The internal surfaces are the essence of the organizational strategy, which translates into a series of interconnected spaces and volumes. The main rooms are exhibition spaces, connection areas located at their intersection. The rooms on the ground floor instead translate into a volume formed under the exhibition spaces, which has a direct connection with the park and the city, so as to have rooms that are accessible even when the museum is closed. Everything is imagined as more movements, which intersect in certain areas, resulting in a mixture of user groups. The building forms two entrance squares on the sides, where the lobby of the building is seen as a connection point of multiple spaces. The Lobby of the New Museum of World Writing was designed as a new type of entry into the cultural building, which instead of being monumental and closed, is seen as an open and inviting space, connected with the surrounding environment.
