因为预算有限，设计师们将滑板场作为面向整个人群的新的开放式广场，这也是创建城市公共空间的一个选择。利用滑板的城市特质，该项目旨在将相邻空间构造为充满运动气息的区域。结合了现代的奥林匹克运动项目，从其在公共空间中兼容的惯常存在到其在城市广场和街道上的多数的实践中摸索，项目得以完成。
A new skate sports court is proposed as a plaza, one more opportunity to create a city as well. Despite having a minimal budget, this new skate equipment is used to transform the scope of an old athletics circuit into a new open public park for the entire population. Taking advantage of the urban nature of skateboarding, the project aims to structure the adjacent space beyond what is strictly built to fulfill its sporting role. Uniting a now Olympic sport, the project is approached precisely from its compatible habitual presence in public space, from the reality of its majority practice in the squares and streets of cities.

From this perspective, a field study is carried out of those squares and urban public spaces that have precisely made Barcelona the international mecca of this sport, as a kind of side effect and unexpected to the famous Olympic transformation and its “squares”. Real street or street obstacles, inspired by Barcelona, are included as project material, including replicas of the platforms of the Parque de les Tres Xemeneies in Paral.lel, the inclined planes of the Arc de Triomphe or the granite curbs of the MACBA.

The new sports court is expressly conceived as a PLAZA, a SKATEPLAZA. It is built with the usual materials for urbanization of the public space: pedestrian street pavements, granite curbs, etc. An urbanization that extends to its immediate surroundings, converting its ramps and concrete inclined planes into slopes that combine the track with the surroundings. A line of trees is projected that provides shade to the track, visually defines the park space and establishes a new green facade for the industrial environment of the site. The pavement on the upper level of the skate plaza - mas + 0.70m - also serves, in relation to the park, as a possible new stage for events or concerts and for the annual Rock’n’Board festival, organized by local skaters.
