田园艺术公园的作物园位于第二道铁路与崮河的交界之处,场地现状为农田以及养殖棚户区,设计保留原有肌理,栽种五谷,以大地艺术的方式布置农作物,运用田状肌理。在公园的核心位置,设计中心广场,中心广场的设计理念源于“打麦场”,以素土夯实作为场地基础,在场地中布置民俗艺术作品。在整个场地中,有一架十字廊桥穿越场地,十字廊桥的灵感来源于柴门与土墙,柴门即菜园中的“迎风幛子”,由再生材料构成,包括树木枝条和作物秸秆,采用编织的方式形成廊道,土墙由夯土墙作为主体结构,中间掺杂综合材料,主要以城市化进程当中拆除的农村旧房房料构成,包括砖瓦、石材、木材以及瓷砖等材料,饱蘸乡土记忆,在墙体上绘制日照最具代表的民间艺术作品——日照农民画,聘请当地农民画家运用浓墨重彩直接在墙上绘制。另外,运用当代艺术的表达方式,展现民间艺术,将生产与生活用具“粮食囤子”与“斗”的形体结合年画形成独特的可参与性构筑,将沂蒙花布的图案附着在经过独特设计的雕塑灯具上,布置在田园当中,给人带来强烈对比的视觉冲击力。在原有棚户区的位置规划设计乡土博物馆与商业建筑,建筑为夯土建筑,局部采用镜面不锈钢进行对比,在大片玻璃后面运用窗花的表达方式,满布大红色剪纸,在夜晚形成巨大的红色灯笼。乡土博物馆展现农业生产方式和日照当地民间艺术,并规划设计酒吧与餐饮商业建筑,活跃公园气氛。在保留场地原有农田肌理基础上,结合田园艺术公园的个性,打造兼具有可识别性、保护性和生产性的田园景观生产区。公园周边以自然式种植的高大乔木形成围合之势,为整个场地形成一个屏障;公园内部采用规则式种植,上层为果树柿树、苹果树、梨树、核桃等,下层为农作物复式种植,种植形式主要有小麦/油菜——玉米、小麦——谷子;绿带走廊中设置采摘园,种植各种乡土果树苹果树、梨树、核桃,强调其植物的季相性,突出植物的枝、花、果、姿态等特征,增加游人的参与性。
