The Site Plan depicts the main lawn of the Parade Ground extended out to the main viewing promontories and bluffs down to Crissy Field and the Marsh. It also shows an extension of the Anza Esplanade connecting the Presidio hills and the Main Post through the new landscape to Crissy Field Marsh, the Bay and the Marina. A new“Zocalo” functions as a main social and multi-functional gathering plaza between the Transit Center and the Visitor Center, and makes a central feature of the existing Monterrey Cypress trees. In the center of the plan is a new “Observation Post,” two interior rooms for events that look out across the Bay. These buildings have grass sloped roofs to allow for raised vantage points across the Bay. A new “Cliff-Walk” wraps the northern edge of the large lawn terraces, and is generously furnished with seating, and weather shelters and get-downs. The Bluff walks down to the Learning Gardens and Interactive area. A new earthen amphitheater is sunken into the eastern side of the Bluff, protected from winds but open to views across the Bay to Alcatraz.
